Growing up I was surrounded by allergens from cigarette smoke to dog hair. I also had my fair share of sugar in my diet! I was sick most Springs and Summers through adulthood. It often led to a very croaky deep voice and bronchitis or sinus infections, which meant I needed antibiotics at least once a year. I also decided to use Flonase to prevent these seasonal discomforts. Well, not anymore!!

But, after 2 kids and realizing that I needed to do something differently besides exercise more, I was attracted towards Intermittent Fasting. My yoga teacher and mentor had been posting about her journey on Facebook and she inspired me to try it. I began January 2019. Read to the end to find all the resources that I used on my journey.
Here is an article about how hugs will improve your relationships with the family. Connection before correction is a huge part of our parenting philosophy. I notice that when we are not connecting with our children in meaningful ways, the negative behaviors start to emerge more frequently.
Day 4: Core Values
Brainstorming the family's core values and working on them consistency is an important part of cultivating a Family Mindset. In the first 3 days, we worked on Intention, Gratitude, and Kindness. Today, use these grounding techniques to center your family into its truest values and then work on recording them into Family rules or expectations to refer back to along your family's path. List them with positive language as in 'We can' or 'We will' statements rather than the things you will not do. Example: We will listen to each other or We can pause before responding.
As I write this blog series we are currently on Stay at Home order for the Covid-19 pandemic. There are a lot of new ideas and cultural shifts that have been brought into our home. We are dealing with fewer distractions therefore we can work on and implement what is truly important to our family. In the comments, please write what your family hopes to implement into your future goals from this 5 Day Challenge or from your time at home during the pandemic.

Nothing of me is original. I am a combined effort of everybody I've known." --Chuck Palahniuk
This week as we approach Mother's Day, I always have mixed emotions.
After losing my mom, I thought this would be the hardest holiday to be missing her.
In actuality, I am always overwhelmed with immense gratitude.
From an early age, my parents made me feel special and loved and that I was destined for great things.
But, it wasnt only my parents who motivated me, I had an intrinsic confidence and a yearning to learn from everyone that has had a part in my life. I've had so many guiding moms in my life and am so grateful to have such mentors.
Still, no one can replace the love of a mom. After my mom's death almost 3 years ago, it took such a long time to process.
I was "Adrift. Wandering around. Lost in grieving. Not letting go, but being cut loose. A castaway is a person set adrift or one whose boat has been cut from its anchor."
A part of me went missing. I suddenly felt changed and had no idea how to grieve.
"Grief has its own undertow, an undertow that can be just as treacherous as the one beneath the sea. As we let go of grief and move once again toward a new life, we often misjudge our own strength and readiness. As survivors, we want to move forward. We want the blessing of honoring and remembrance, and we want to get back into life again. But we aren't always ready."
And then, one day, you are ready. You dig deep and find your roots!
I'm finally ready to give my gifts to the world. I am worth it! Because, "those who have reached the shore turn and pull others out of the crashing surf of grief, saving them from being pulled down by the undertow."
My gift to you on Mother's Day.
