5 things to do EVERY day to prevent any illness coming your way!

1. Get enough sleep.
My husband and I do our best to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night.
Here is my blog on how we get a good night's sleep.

2. Vitamin D Supplements and time outside (yes, even in the winter!)
These are the supplements that we love!  Here are some great things to add to your diet!

3. Vitamin C Supplements and we try to eat and drink fruits and vegetables every day.
These are the supplements that we love!  We make smoothies and add lemon to our water very often.  Here is a list of foods high in Vitamin C.

4. We use Thieves oil everywhere!
We use the entire line of products daily for cleaning and for our bodies.  I carry the Thieves spray with me and my kids use the mouthwash as a spray too.  We use it in our throats and mouths to keep from getting sick.  The toothpaste has helped my sensitive gums.  We diffuse and apply the oil too.

Go here to find the Thieves Starter bundle under other premium starter kits. Honestly, the Thieves starter bundle is an amazing deal.  Everything is highly concentrated and if diluted properly lasts a very long time!

Life 9 is one that we use.  The kids use MightyPro

Why I don't panic when we feel the start of an illness!

Why I don't panic when we feel the start of an illness!
Peace of mind comes from having all of the tools already at home.  When one of the family members starts to feel under the wellness line, we just use what we already have in the Doctor Mom arsenal!

This is how I avoid feelings of overwhelm:

1. Increase all of the things on my list of every day immune system help.
See that blog here!

2. Stay away from sugar and dairy as soon as we feel a bit crummy.
I give tea with honey instead.  And we like to have honey with cinnamon as well.  Cinnamon is an immune stimulator!

3. Start diffusing cleansing oils to purify the air or help with respiratory illnesses.

These are a couple of great ones: Thieves, Purification, and RC.

4. Set up a spot for the sick person with all of the following:
  • own pillow and blanket
  • bandana and tissues
  • Thieves hand sanitizer
  • Thieves mouth spray
  • Purification roller bottle
  • Detox Tea with honey
5. I spray every few hours with Thieves cleaner and wipe down surfaces.

Help your kids fall asleep and stay asleep with this

There is nothing worse than after finally getting your children all tucked in and you sit down to have a little bit of alone time (or your head is in the freezer looking for your hidden stash of ice cream), then you hear a door open and feet coming down the hallway.  Since my daughter was an infant, she has always had a hard time falling asleep.  We've literally tried everything!  Now that she can read to herself, it's a game changer in our house, but she still relies on one item in her room---a nightlight!

When we brought Feather, the Owl home, my daughter finally felt like she had some control over her own bedtime routine.  She can choose the color of the night light or it can cycle through.  She can choose the noise she wants each night or no sound at all.  Finally, she loves to add her own essential oils to the diffuser portion of Feather, the Owl.  I only trust Young Living oils in my house especially because I have kids and a dog.  There is a specific line just for kids, babies and pets!

The Seed to Seal commitment and the amount of care and attention that has gone into formulating the oils is why I will never use other essential oils! You should only look for therapeutic grade oils.  Some companies literally put synthetic chemicals into their bottles, which will only cause harm for your family.

Meet Tanya Milano Snell

Becoming a wife and mother was so exciting for me. I had so much love to give and I strived to always find solutions to life's bumps in the road. From cloth diapering to buying as much organic or local food as we could I was trying to keep us as healthy as possible. I found products that I liked at online stores and corporations, big box stores, local shops, and local farms.....you name it, I was using it all and it was complicated. I also stressed the importance of self care so my husband and I can be there for our kids and for our community, but there just never seemed much time for this.

So, then came a series of traumatic events in our life. First, the death of my mother in law after a long illness followed 2 years later with the death of both of my parents from cancer. Having 2 young kids (one of which was diagnosed with asthma) and navigating this time in our lives was nothing short of a miracle. We have so many friends and family to thank for this! We were maintaining self care (honestly, my yoga practice was crucial) and healthy living as best we could given our circumstances or at least that's what I thought.

In the summer of 2018, my husband was hospitalized with severe gastrointestinal problems. After a week in the hospital, we received a diagnosis of Crohns disease. On the day of his release from the hospital, I was a mess. My body and mind had HAD enough. I didn't know how we were going to manage all of these changes. I cried all day!! I felt like I couldn't be strong for the one person that was strong through all of our battles so far.  In the next few months, we had new food to buy, new supplements, new medical bills, and the list goes on. I was having daily headaches, irregular bowel movements, and increased anxiety. Bills and shopping were so hard to keep up with. It was time to make some decisions for the whole family.

I realized that staying in the teaching field was unsustainable to my well-being and detrimental to my family's well-being.  I chose to really listen to my intuition, strengthen the practices that help me listen, and follow the path that I was being led to follow.  Leading and living from the heart was the only option.  My love for what yoga does for my mind, body, and soul was the missing piece to my puzzle on how to make all my passions and dreams a reality.

Today, I have much less stress because I have developed a self awareness that keeps me from self abandonment (SacredSeat and SafeSeat practices). I sleep better. I have much fewer headaches and muscle pains. My anxiety is managed and I worry less about providing what my family needs for proper nutrition. And best of all, I now have a self care routine so that I can be there for my family and their needs. I also have more time for the things that I enjoy doing like reading, playing outside, and family time.
