Eating Chocolate is supposed to be slow and mindful! It's soooooooo good!

Please tell me you aren't the small percentage of people that don't like chocolate or are allergic to chocolate.!!!

I sympathize with you, but it's hard to empathize because I just NEED to eat it!

For this mindfulness activity that's great for kids too, grab a piece of chocolate (m+ms are great because they don't melt in the hand) or a small fruit like a strawberry or raisin.

First, look at the food noticing anything about the appearance.
Then, smell the food noticing how it smells.
Next, place it in the mouth without chewing.  Move it around the mouth noticing texture and temperature.
Finally, slowly chew paying special attention to how the teeth feel while biting it and how it tastes in different parts of the mouth.

That's how to mindfully eat!  Here are 2 videos to watch and try with us!

Something we do everyday can help us during times of overwhelm!

Breathing!

When was the last time you stopped to think about your breathing?  We take it for granted everyday.  What if I told you that if you just took 5-10 minutes everyday to focus on your breathing, your overwhelm would drastically change?  Give it a try!

Choose a video from my YouTube channels Blue Sky Kids Yoga or Tanya Milano Snell.  Do the same one everyday or mix it up!

For me, a breathing (pranayama) session is often the best choice when I need an almost-immediate result. Whether I need to calm my nervous system or a quick boost of energy, there's a breathing pattern that will help, and usually just a few rounds does the trick. Long term, the practice can help with all sorts of things, including anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, improved focus, and, of course increased self-awareness.

I'm not usually one to cuss much, but you HAVE to read the book by Adam Mansbach if you have not yet.

And even better is the video of Samuel L. Jackson reading it!

We use breathing to help relax us at bedtime or when we are in need of some calm down time.  My daughter and I have made several Bedtime Breathing exercise videos.  I hope they are useful to practice and use when necessary!
